- Project Number: DPW19-193
- Project Manager: CJ Vargas cjvargas@boisestate.edu
- Start Date: July 2024
- End Date: July 2025
- Last Updated: 3-28-2025
Project Scope:
The south expansion zone of the university is bounded by University Drive and Beacon Street on the north and south edges, and by Denver Avenue and Oakland Avenue on the east and west. All of the properties owned by the university in this zone are currently being irrigated with domestic water provided by Suez Water.
The initial scope included the installation of a pumping station and pressure irrigation main line along Belmont Drive, between S Vermont Av and Denver Av. Additional scope includes asphalt and concrete repair as well as providing lateral connections to this main for any new, or previously developed, university irrigation systems in the zone.
The initial scope is expanded to replace the existing gravity irrigation line between Rossi Mill head gate and the pump station on the north side of the SUB/SPEC with a pressurized system. This entails eliminating the existing pump station and installing a 2000 GPM pump station at the Rossi Mill head gate and upsizing the existing 12″ pipes to 18″.
Project Update:
The work in Phase 1 is complete with the exception of some small items
such as tree and sod installs that have been postponed until warmer
weather comes next Spring. With that, Phase 2 is well under way and we
are allowing the contractor to work ahead and make progress on some
parts of Phase 3 also, especially while the weather holds.
Phase 2 work encompasses the removal of the existing pump structure
behind the SUB, the excavation for and construction of a new one near Big Jud’s and the sleeving of a pipe from the new pump location to in front of the Children’s Center where the contractor previously ran the pipe to, earlier this Summer. A little bit of work will occur at Honors College to remove the small pump structure located there as it will not be needed going forward.
Phase 3 work includes taking the pipework from where we left off at the
Michigan crossing, heading alongside Norco, turning North, heading
towards University between the Rec Center and MCMR, crossing
University, heading partially around Bronco Circle and then over to behind the SUB to connect with the rest of the campus irrigation system.
Phase 4 work includes taking the underground infrastructure down Belmont from Vermont to Denver, so that we can tie into the Alumni & Friends Center. This work will be occurring between May 12th and July 31st. During this time, only a specific length of Belmont will be closed as the contractor moves along the path of their work.
