Ross Burkhart, professor of political science, was interviewed by Wisconsin Watch for an article which answered the question “Does Canada impose 200% tariffs on U.S. dairy products?”

The article examined the claim by a number of republican politicians that the United States cannot export dairy products to Canada due to onerous tariff rates. Burkhart stated that there is the potential for Canada to impose tariffs above 200% on U.S. dairy products, but only if U.S. exports exceed a certain amount, which they have not ever done. In effect, Burkhart explained, neither country places tariffs on agricultural products.
