Title: Geothermal Hot Water as an Energy Source – What is it? Where is it? How do we use it?
The City of Boise Public Works Department oversees the operation of a geothermal heating district that provides clean, carbon free heat to buildings downtown. This is the largest geothermal system in the country heating over 90 buildings/6 million square feet. Join us for a presentation to learn how geothermal is being utilized and challenges buildings face.

Speaker: John Gunnerson, PE, Geothermal Coordinator, City of Boise Public Works Department
Graduating from BSU in Civil Engineering, Jon has been with the City 15 years and managing the geothermal program for the past 10 years. Jon has played a critical role in growing the system and improving the overall level-of-service to geothermal customers. Familiar with program, Jon will be able to provide insight to Boise’s geothermal history, geology, system operations, uses, regulations, and how this resource aligns with larger climate and carbon reduction goals.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
