Undergraduate student Levi Recla from the Computer Science department has been awarded the newly instituted EURECA (Excellence in Undergraduate REsearch and Creative Activity) Graduation Cord for Spring 2025. This cord recognizes Boise State students who have demonstrated a commitment to development as a researcher or in creative work during their undergraduate studies.
Levi’s research project, titled “Modernizing Legacy Scientific Code: A Fortran-to-Python Translation of EXAFS Self-Absorption Correction Algorithms,” was recognized by the Institute for Inclusive and Transformative Scholarship (IFITS), which oversees the EURECA program. He presented his work at the Undergraduate Research Showcase on April 15th and joins the Master of Science in Computer Science after graduation this semester.
Students completing the requirements for EURECA are recognized at an end-of-semester ceremony and receive a certificate and an honor cord from IFITS to wear at commencement. Approximately 70 students received this inaugural recognition. Several other students from the College of Engineering were among the recipients.
Undergraduate students are encouraged to consider participating in future EURECA opportunities to recognize their research and creative endeavors. More information can be found on the EURECA webpage.
