Biography
Anthea Fisher is an opera singer who performs regularly with Opera Idaho, Gemma Arts Music and Boise State Opera Theatre. Roles she has performed in her undergraduate career include Le Novizie in Giacomo Puccini’s “Suor Angelica,” Stephanie in Michael Ching’s “Speed Dating Tonight!” and Ma Moss in Aaron Copland’s “The Tender Land.”
Last summer, Fisher sang in the Opera Studio of the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria. This is a six-week selective young artist program that roughly 50 opera singers worldwide get accepted into each summer.
In the Treasure Valley community, Fisher has been a choral scholar and section leader of various church choir ensembles, including the Grace Anglican Church Choir, the First Presbyterian Chancel Choir and the Schola of St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral.
Due to her academic standing, Fisher has earned membership in Phi Kappa Phi, an all-discipline academic honor society, and Beta Gamma Sigma, a business academic honor society. In her free time, she is an avid researcher who advocates for an evidence-based approach to vocal pedagogy. She also enjoys performing world premieres of new compositions written by living composers, and is working on a project commissioning several composers to put on a New Music Recital.
Fisher is from San Juan Capistrano, California.
