Biography
Stella Stigers is known for creating meaningful change and unwavering determination when advocating for diverse communities on and off campus. During her freshman year, she applied to the College of Education UCREATe program to become an emerging teacher researcher. She was awarded a grant to research the impact of undiagnosed learning differences across generations and focused on advocating for early intervention and accommodations.
Through her involvement in the College of Education (COED), she was voted by her COED peers to represent her college within ASBSU as the College of Education senator. As her college’s academic senator, she has worked on initiatives advocating for COED students to have accessible resources during their time in the program. For example, she created the Praxis student support survey to improve student access to Praxis resources within the COED student body. While in the College of Education, she was also a PEERS program job coach, working with students with multiple learning and intellectual differences who worked at the Boise State Campus Food Pantry.
Stigers has positively impacted the Boise State campus and the community. She joined ASBSU as an inclusive excellence student council representative during her sophomore year. That same year, Stigers founded the first personal hygiene drive to support the Boise State Campus Food Pantry to help students who struggle with hygiene insecurity. The hygiene drive, now in its third year, has collected $1,527.17 and 1,217 individual hygiene products.
As an active vocalist, volunteer and advocate in the Boise community, Stigers is involved with the Brown Like Me Organization, the Boise Soul Food Festival, The Divas of Boise, Music for a Cause and the Christian Fellowship Ministries Church, where she is also a member of the church choir. Stigers strives to make a meaningful and lasting impact in everything she does for her peers and the Boise community.
Stigers is from Boise, Idaho.
