Boise State Orientation: Connect and Kick Start College

Starting college can feel like a big step into the unknown—new campus, new people, and a lot of new adjustments to your lifestyle. But Boise State’s Orientation isn’t just about figuring out where your classes are; it’s about building your confidence, making lasting connections, and feeling truly at home here.

Nervous? You’re Not Alone

Mady, a Marketing student, remembers feeling nervous at her Orientation: “I was extremely nervous when I came. But when I left, I thought, ‘Wow, this is real! I’m actually going to be a Boise State student!’”

Orientation helped Mady take that first step toward feeling comfortable and excited for the semester ahead. It’s normal to feel anxious, but by the end of our guided two-day programs, you’ll leave knowing exactly where to go, who to talk to, and that you’re ready for college life.

Build Your Support System

Orientation is all about making connections. Colby Canaday, kinesiology with a pre allied health emphasis from Grangeville, Idaho, even met her best friend through being an Orientation Leader. “She honestly changed me as a person and made this place feel like home. I am so happy that being an Orientation Leader brought us together.” As a result, Colby signed herself up to pay it forward the following year and become an orientation leader for future Broncos.

Analise, another recent Orientation attendee, also shares, “It’s a great way to meet new people and connect with students and professionals around campus.”

You’ll meet people in the same boat as you—whether they’re fellow incoming students or upperclassmen who can offer tips. Plus, you’ll get to know faculty and staff who will support you throughout your time at Boise State. Having a network you can rely on early on makes a huge difference when things get tough.

Parents Are a Part of This Journey

It’s not just about you—it’s about your parents, too. They’re probably feeling just as nervous as you are. Orientation offers specific sessions for parents to learn about campus resources, ways to support you, and how to navigate this transition together. Having your parents involved early on helps ease their worries, so they can feel more confident in your new adventure, too. You can sign them up when you register for your new student orientation.

Important Dates to Remember

Make sure to mark your calendar! Boise State’s Orientation sessions are scheduled for June 16- July 24. These dates are essential for getting acquainted with your new campus, so be sure to sign up early and set aside these days. Your parents are welcome to join, too, during the sessions dedicated to helping them navigate this transition.
